Anteaters to Zebras
Anteaters to Zebras is the first children's book to be published in English by legendary British designer Alan Fletcher.
Alan Fletcher (1931 - 2006) was one of the most influential and respected figures in British design. Famous for the high profile work he created with Pentagram of which he was a co-founder, Fletcher became renowned as one of the most creative graphic designers on the British scene.
Created the year before his untimely death in 2006, Anteaters to Zebras was originally designed with Fletcher's grandson in mind. The book is a creative, playful and witty introduction to the alphabet, expressing the pleasure Alan Fletcher took in turning work and play into the same activity.
From anteaters to zebras, from bears to x-ray fish and yetis, children and adults alike will delight in Fletcher's bold colours, quirky characters and in his infectious sense of fun.
Born in Nairobi, Kenya, in 1931 Alan Fletcher designed some of Britain's most memorable graphic identities including logos for the Victoria & Albert Museum, Reuters, Lloyd's of London and the Institute of Directors. After leaving Pentagram in 1992 he continued to expand his portfolio working for clients including Domus magazine, London Transport, Shell and Toyota, and acting as Consultant Art Director for Phaidon Press. His seminal book on visual intelligence, The Art of Looking Sideways, is now in its tenth anniversary year.
