A Stick Of Green Candy
The fifth book in the Familiars series by London based publisher Four Corners books, who have an equal love of literature and beautiful book design. Each book in the series sees a classic novel or a set of short stories complimented with illustrations and exquisite book design and presentation.
For number five, San Francisco based artist Colter Jacobsen has chosen four short stories, two by Jane Bowles and two by Denton Welch, whose fiction works are now rather hard to come by.
Jane Bowles offers A Stick Of Green Candy & Camp Cataract and Denton Welch brings The Trout Stream & Narcissus Bay. The Trout Stream is an intruiging, gothic tale, reminiscent of both Edgar Allen Poe and John Cheever. Born in Shanghai, Denton Welch (1915-1948) was a British writer and painter, best known for his autobiographical novel Maiden Voyage. Jane Bowles (1917-1973) was an American writer, best known for her novel Two Serious Ladies.
Book design by Design Museum favourites John Morgan Studio once again offers up the elegance and tactile pleasure that all great books provide - a warm and inviting edition to find it's place among the more cherished books in your personal library.
