Around The World With The Bodoni Family
An unusual, yet beautiful, self-published follow up to Teresa Monachino's book Words Fail Me (Phaidon 2006), Around The World With The Bodoni Family is a witty study and celebration of the classic Bodoni typeface.
Bodoni's balance of thin and broad lines and long, level serifs create an intrinsic playfulness, which means it is dependable and fun to use in various contexts. The book is a typographic adventure that conveys the idea of a journey from A to Z. 26 destinations are illustrated in Bodoni using only their initial capitals – A is for Alps etc.
The foreword has been written by historian Dan Cruickshank whose BBC programmes have included, Adventures in Architecture and Around the World in 80 Treasures.
Production of the book is also rather extraordinary, the designers keenness for perfect presentation resulting in a lavish, even indulgent confection. Something to delight and treasure.
A very limited edition of 40 hand numbered copies only are available, each signed by the author / designer.
Please Note: Due to the vaulable nature of this book, we do not have copies on display in the Design Museum Shop and it is only available here through our online store.
