Max Lamb's Quarz is a series of crystal tumblers representing perfect mathematical prisms. The shapes mirror the hexagonal prisms formed when quartz - the main raw material for glass production - grows in an uninhibited space. Quarz also references the German spelling of the mineral, reflecting manufacturer Lobmeyr's Austrian roots.

Each Quarz tumbler is mouth blown into the same cylindrical wooden mould then cut at three assorted heights, providing variation within a manufactured production process. The hand-cut and polished hexagonal facets allow the glasses to be arranged in a Giant's Causeway-type landscape, creating a glass model of the geological formation on the Northern Irish coast renowned for its hexagonal basalt columns.
