A dominant trend in design is the techno-romanticism typified by Tord Boontje's work. Born in the Netherlands in 1968, he studied at the Eindhoven Design Academy before moving to London and enrolling at the Royal College of Art. Working on the cusp of design, craft and technology, he harnesses technology to replicate the intricate, romantic style traditionally associated with hand-crafted objects. Recently he has worked with Authentics to create a range of tableware.
