One of the most ambitious and effective information design projects ever executed in Britain is the road and motorway signage system designed by Jock Kinnier and Margaret Calvert from 1957 to 1967. Intellectually rigorous yet inclusive and engaging, their system has become a role model for modern road signage all over the world.

This exclusive screen print has been created by Bibliothèque for the exhibition This is Design, a celebration of the Design Museum’s Collection, examining the impact of design on the modern world, exploring the consequences of design and how it shapes our lives and contemporary culture.
