House of Cards - Eames (Small)

Designed by Charles + Ray Eames, 1952

Designed in 1952, the House of Cards stemmed from Charles and Ray Eames' (1907-1978 and 1912-1988) love of what they called 'good things': everyday objects which are often beautiful but are usually taken for granted. The Eames and their assistants pored over pictures of buttons, marbles, vegetables, pebbles, thimbles and laces to choose suitable images. Ray and her designer friend Alexander Girard then made the final selection.
