The official Vitra exhibition catalogue and the first comprehensive and systematic record of the furniture and architecture which Jean Prouvé (1901-1984) developed and produced from 1924 until the mid 1970's.

This book provides an overview of his technical ideas and concepts, his tools and the production structures he employed, his collaborative work with architects and engineers as well as characteristic projects: furniture, buildings and construction systems. The 240 colour and 655 illustrations throughout are supported by exploratory texts by 42 authors and also by Prouvé's own texts and drawings from his lectures at CNAM (Conservatoire des Atres et Metiers).

As this book is produced by Vitra, the print production standards are exceptional; bound in red fabric then overlaid with metal cover sheets ( a reference to Prouvé's engineering origins) the result is a visually stunning, tactile and comprehensive study of a design master.
