Duo Teacup and Saucer x2
A beautiful pair of cups and saucers for tea or coffee made for the Design Museum Shop by Emma Lacey.
Emma Lacey has a background in Craft and is committed to exploring the tactile qualities of ceramic objects, as well as our social and personal relationships with them.
Think about your favourite cup or mug... it’s size, the shape, the handle, and the decoration. Is anyone else allowed to use it?
The ‘Duo’ set refers to the individual qualities that make us engage with the objects we use.
The elegant oval shapes appear to be part of a standard set, but an intervention in the production process means each pair of cups has two different handle positions, allowing you to identify your favourite cup by choosing the handle position that suits you best.
This first edition for the Design Museum is neatly packaged and presented and also includes an individual note from the designer telling you which number, from the first production run, you own.
The ‘Duo’ espresso and tea sets were awarded 2nd prize at the Stoke-on-Trent Ceramic Festival Competition and are now part of the permanent collection at the Potteries Museum and Gallery. They have been produced in the UK using Fine Bone China. Each cup is hand-finished to ensure a unique drinking experience.
