- This original archive poster advertises a 1985 exhibition at the Boilerhouse: the first iteration of the Design Museum funded by the Conran Foundation.
- The exhibition was a critique of the car by the eminent German graphic designer Otl Aicher. The show was advertised as ‘the problems of defending the automobile against its worshippers’ and took a rather provocative position. Aicher’s argument was that designers were too fixated on the styling and appearance of cars when they should be focussing on efficiency instead.
- Float mounted on a conservation-grade mount board with a 20 mm border.
- Its solid ash frame has been carefully stained with water-based paint (which is non-flammable and more environmentally friendly than oil-based paint) and applied with a coloured lacquer to create a deep lustre.
- Please note that these are original archive prints rather than reproductions, so may exhibit small markings.
