This 1986 poster was produced to advertise the exhibition o 14:24: British Youth Culture.which was the last show staged during our first iteration as the Boilerhouse Project at the V&A (1981 - 1986).
The exhibition's premise was based on how Britain since the ’50s had gone in for a succession of youth subcultures for which style had been the means of communicating an acute sense of difference from the rest of the world. From “teds” (“teddy boys”) to “punks,” via “mods,” “rockers,” “skinheads,” and “ football casuals”.
The Boilerhouse Project was the first scheme funded by the Conran Foundation: an organisation set up by Sir Terence Conran which aimed to promote discussion of contemporary design.
Please note that these are original archive prints rather than reproductions, so may exhibit small markings.
Very limited copies of this print now remain.
