Waste Age: What Can Design Do?
We are living in the age of waste. Is design the answer to leaving our throwaway culture behind? The Design Museum Shop believes it is. This range of products has been selected because they, in part or full, attempt to reduce waste in their manufacturing process, or their carbon footprint by sourcing materials locally.
The Design Museum Shop has also taken some practical steps to put waste to work. You may notice that the box your order arrives in isn't new and perhaps has the branding of some other company on it. That’s because the Design Museum Shop reuses as many boxes as it can to package orders.
And any boxes that are too damaged it shreds in-house to create the packaging material that keeps your order safe in transit. Even excess paper offcuts from shipping labels are kept and used for any messages included in parcels, such as birthday wishes.
Waste Age: What can Design do? the exhibition is now open at the Design Museum. #EndTheWasteAge
