About the Design Museum

The Design Museum is the world’s leading museum devoted to contemporary design in every form, from architecture and fashion to graphics, product and industrial design. A registered charity founded by Sir Terence Conran in 1989, our mission is to explore and celebrate new ideas, demonstrating how design can help the planet and its inhabitants thrive.

We relocated to our landmark building in Kensington, London, in 2016, establishing a national and global hub for design. Our collection is an important record of the designs that have shaped the modern world, and we are proud to lead groundbreaking research in the field, as acknowledged by our Independent Research Organisation (IRO) status. Our commitment to design excellence has also been recognized with a European Museum of the Year award in 2018. Find more about the Design Museum at www.designmuseum.org

About the Design Museum Shop

The Design Museum first had a shop when it opened in its original location in Butler's Wharf in 1989. Housed in a reconstructed banana warehouse on the south bank of the Thames, the original museum was dedicated to 20th and 21st-century design and included a café, a shop, and two floors of galleries.

Since then, the Design Museum Shop has been bringing you the very best in design. Our curated, ever-evolving selection of gifts, books, prints, and objects reflects the museum's mission and its diverse design disciplines. We strive to provide you with unique and inspiring products that are directly connected to the world of design.

Whether you're looking for iconic pieces from famous brands, exclusive items from emerging designers, signed artist's editions, or archive classics our shop offers something for every design enthusiast. Many of our items are developed exclusively for the Design Museum Shop. Our product selection is kept up-to-date and is often connected to the museum’s dynamic exhibitions programme.

By shopping with us, you are directly supporting the charitable aims of the Design Museum. Your purchase helps us continue to produce innovative books and exhibition catalogues, stage world-class exhibitions, and deliver our learning and research programmes.

Our Commitment to Sustainability

We are committed to sustainability in all aspects of our operation, including the Future Observatory initiative. Where possible, we use recycled packaging for our orders and prioritize stocking items made from recycled materials. We also make a conscious effort to work with small UK suppliers, reducing our environmental impact and supporting local businesses. Our product selection and development processes are guided by the sustainability principles visible at the bottom of our homepage.
