Shipping charges for all UK and international destinations are calculated based on the weight, dimensions, and value of your parcel. Charges will be displayed to you at checkout. You will receive an email confirmation once your order is placed, and a follow-up email with a Royal Mail or UPS tracking link once your goods have been dispatched.

⊕︀ How We Deliver


 

We offer a range of delivery options for orders within the UK and we ship to various international destinations. We aim to dispatch all items within 1-3 working days of accepting your order.

•   If a parcel cannot be delivered (e.g., no one is available to sign for it), you should receive a calling card with instructions for collection or re-delivery. If uncollected, parcels will be returned to the Design Museum Shop, and re-delivery may incur an additional postage cost.

•    We are happy to send items as gifts but to avoid confusion, please forewarn the recipient that a parcel is on the way.

•    If your parcel does not arrive within a reasonable timeframe and no calling card is present, please contact onlineshop@designmuseum.org to open an investigation. Please allow up to 3 weeks for deliveries outside of the UK.

⊕︀ UK Shipping


 

•    Cost: Shipping to UK addresses starts at £5, varying based on the order's weight, shape, and dimensions.

•    Free Shipping: Enjoy free shipping on all UK orders above £60, provided the items are under 15kg total volumetric weight.

•    Carriers: Small and medium-sized standard UK orders (under 2kg) are sent via Royal Mail Tracked 48 delivery service (usually received 1-2 days after dispatch). Larger and heavier orders are shipped with UPS, which may have a more expensive shipping charge.

•    Dispatch & Delivery Times: Please note that all standard delivery estimates are from the date of dispatch, which typically occurs within 1-3 working days after accepting the order. Standard delivery is typically expected within 2-4 working days after dispatch but may extend to 3-6 working days during busy periods like Christmas. UK customers should allow up to 7 days for purchases to arrive. Please note that delivery estimates are not guaranteed. You will be notified by email once your goods have been dispatched. During peak times standard orders placed after 1 PM on a Thursday will likely be dispatched on the following Monday (subject to public holidays). Standard orders placed after 1 PM on a Friday will likely be dispatched the following Tuesday (subject to public holidays). Saturday shipping and delivery services are not currently available.

•    Next Day Delivery: When choosing Royal Mail Tracked 24 Next Day delivery service, your order must be placed before 12 PM (noon) GMT to receive items the following day. This service may incur a higher shipping charge and we do not offer a Saturday or Sunday Next Day delivery service at the moment.

•    Signature: All UK orders are sent by tracked and recorded delivery which require a signature upon receipt.

•    Delivery Attempts & Uncollected Parcels: All UK orders are sent by recorded mail and will require a signature upon receipt. If no one is present to take delivery and sign for the parcel, Royal Mail or UPS should leave a calling card explaining how to collect your parcel or arrange a re-delivery. If you don't collect your parcel within a certain period, it will be returned to the Design Museum Shop. Re-delivery can be arranged but will incur a supplementary postage cost.

⊕︀ International Shipping


 

We ship to a wide range of international destinations. If you do not see your country on our list of available destinations at checkout, please contact us, and we will do our best to arrange a delivery for you.

•   International Shipping Fees: Fees differ from country to country and depend on the size, weight, and end destination of the order. International orders are sent using a recorded delivery service by UPS.

•   Discounts: Free shipping offers only apply to UK delivery addresses and to items under 15kg in total volumetric weight. Please note that our members discount does not apply to specified items as well as any products listed at sale prices.

•   Tracking: You will receive a tracking link via email once your order has been picked, packed, and posted.

•   Delivery Timeframes: Delivery time will vary depending on the country's postal service and customs, which may hold parcels for a length of time before releasing them for delivery. The Design Museum has no influence or control over the length of time a parcel is held by customs. Please allow up to 3 weeks for delivery.

•    Import Duties and Taxes: For international orders, you may be subject to aditional import duties and taxes of which will be collected at checkout, so you should not face further charges once you have placed your order or upon delivery. This helps avoid business-to-business import duties and taxes for both the customer and the museum.

•    Please note that we are unable to ship alcohol to international destinations. This restriction applies to all countries outside of the UK.

⊕︀ 1. North America (USA & Canada)


 

Orders to North America will be shipped from the UK via UPS International Expedited.

•    Import Duties & Taxes: For all orders going to the US and Canada, import duties and taxes will be collected at checkout, meaning you should not face further charges after dispatch.

•    All purchases (except books, which are VAT exempt) within the UK are currently subject to a 20% VAT charge. The prices on our site are inclusive of VAT. Deliveries overseas may be subject to aditional import duties and taxes. Duties will be collected at checkout for international orders, so you should not face further charges once you have placed your order. Duties charges will be clearly displayed in the price breakdown of your order.

All products sold by the Design Museum Shop comply with applicable safety standards and regulatory requirements in the EU. We maintain records of product compliance and take appropriate action in case of safety-related issues or product recalls.

Orders to Europe will be shipped from the UK via UPS Standard®.

•    Import Duties & Taxes: For EU orders, import duties will be collected at checkout, meaning you should not face further charges after dispatch.

•    EU Safety Compliance: The Design Museum Shop is committed to ensuring that all products sold to the EU comply with the General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR). In accordance with the GPSR, we have designated an Authorised Representative to handle product safety-related matters within the EU.

Orders to Africa, Asia, Australia, and Latin America are shipped from the UK via UPS International Expedited. If you do not see your country on our list of shipping destinations at checkout, please email us and we will do our best to arrange shipment to you. please note we do not ship to Antarctica.

Our terms and conditions apply equally to all international orders. Delivery times and costs will be calculated at checkout based on your order and destination.

•    Import Duties & Taxes: For all international orders, import duties should be collected at checkout, meaning you should not face further charges after dispatch unless alternative delivery option is agreed.

The Design Museum Shop offers a convenient Click & Collect service. When placing your order online, you can select this option and collect it at the earliest of your convenience at:

HOW IT WORKS:

•    Free: Click & Collect is free of shipping charges and it allows you to order online to pick them up from the Design Museum Shop.

•    Shop Online and Select "Click & Collect": Place your order as usual on our website. At checkout, choose "Click & Collect" as your delivery method.

•    Wait for Confirmation: You will receive a "Ready for Collection" email when your order is ready to be picked up. please wait until you receive this email to avoid disappointment.
* You will receive an email confirmation when your parcel is ready for collection.

•    Collect Your Order: Visit the Design Museum Shop during opening hours to collect your order. You will need to bring your confirmation email (either on your phone or a printed copy) and a form of ID.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

•    Processing Time: Although orders will normally be ready to collect the next day if ordered before 2 PM the previous day, most orders are ready for collection within 1-2 working days. Click & collect orders placed on the weekend will only be processed the next working day and be available to pick-up from the following Tuesday. Please wait for your "Ready for Collection" email before visiting the shop to avoid disappointment.

•    Collection Period: Orders must be collected within 14 days of receiving your "Ready for Collection" email. If you are unable to collect your order within this timeframe, please contact us to arrange an extension or delivery method.

•    Proof of Purchase: You must present your "Ready for Collection" email (on your phone or printed) and a valid form of ID.

•    Uncollected Orders: Any orders that have not been collected within 14 days of being placed in our Atrium Shop will be refunded unless you have contacted us to request an extension. We reserve the right to cancel and refund any uncollected orders.

The Design Museum offers you the opportunity to secure some high-demand items before stock arrives. This service allows you to reserve products and ensures you don't miss out on popular items. Pre-orders are essentially reservations for products that are not yet available for general purchase.

How Pre-Ordering Works:

•    Online Only: Pre-orders can only be placed through our website. When purchasing a pre-order you'll receive a confirmation email. We'll keep you updated on its progress, including release date and changes, when your item is going to be in stock and when your parcel has been dispatched.

•   Shipping Timeframe: We aim to dispatch pre-ordered items as close to the official release date as possible. Please note that the estimated shipping date is provided on the individual product page.

•   Click & Collect Timeframe: For Click & Collect orders, your item will typically be ready for collection from the release date or stock availability date. To avoid disappointment, please wait until you receive a "Ready for Collection" email before visiting the shop.

•   Combined Orders (UK): If your order includes both pre-order and in-stock items, the in-stock items will be shipped separately according to our usual delivery times. You can expect separate deliveries for these items before your pre-ordered item becomes available.

•   Combined Orders (International): For international orders containing both pre-order and in-stock items, the entire order will be held until the pre-ordered item is ready to ship. We will then dispatch all items together.

•   Potential Delays: Please be aware that pre-order release dates are sometimes subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances from suppliers or publishers. While we will notify you of any significant delays, this might mean your entire order is held longer than initially expected.

• Cancellations & Refunds: You are entitled to a full refund for your pre-order at any point before your item is dispatched. If there are any changes to the advertised release dates, we will notify you promptly. For comprehensive details regarding cancellations and refunds, please refer to our Terms and Conditions page.

• Guaranteed Availability: You're assured of getting the product as soon as it's released, even if it's a highly anticipated or limited-edition item.

• Early Access & Exclusive Bonuses: Some pre-orders may offer early access to the product or include exclusive bonuses, such as limited-edition covers or additional content. Check individual product pages for details.

• Convenience: Avoid the rush on launch day and secure your item from the comfort of your home.

⊕︀ Print-on-Demand (PoD) Made to Order & Drop-Shipping


 

Special Order Items such as Print on Demand (PoD) which are tipically posters & prints and t-shirts, that are made to order and produced by a third party partner. Due to their bespoke nature, customers purchasing PoD products are not eligible to cancel or return their order once it has been placed. If the PoD product is received damaged or is faulty, please contact us to make arrangements for a delivery replacement. Please ensure you send photographs of the damage to the product and the packaging.

•    Dispatch Times for PoD:
Prints: Up to 7-10 working days for unframed prints and up to 14 working days for framed prints.
T-shirts: Up to 10 working days to dispatch.
* Please Note: Lead times for some specific products may vary.

•   Click & Collect: Please note that if Click & Collect is selected for made-to-order items, the above estimate lead times still apply.

•    Separate Delivery: PoD items are produced by a third party and will arrive separately from other non-PoD products in your order.

•    International Delivery of PoD: Currently, we do not deliver PoD and drop-ship products to addresses outside the UK.

If you wish to cancel an order before the goods have been dispatched please contact us as quickly as possible quoting your order reference number. If the goods have already been dispatched you will need to follow the instructions in our Returns, Exchanges, & Refunds Policy.
