1. Terms and Conditions for the Sale of Goods
Ordering
Shopping at designmuseumshop.com is a fast and secure process. When you have found a product that you wish to buy, just click on the basket icon to add it to your shopping bag. The quantity of products that you have selected will be displayed at the top right of the screen throughout your shopping session. Should you wish to amend you selection, simply click on the basket icon to review your purchases and their total value. Once you have finished shopping, click on the checkout icon to complete your purchase.
Once you have successfully placed an order you will be sent an email confirming, among other things, receipt and the details of your order. Your order represents an offer by you to purchase goods from us. Please check the confirmation email and notify us immediately of any errors by emailing onlineshop@designmuseum.org. A follow-up email will then be sent once the goods have been dispatched to you, and it is only at this point in time that we accept your offer, are bound to fulfil it and a contract is formed.
If an item you have requested is temporarily out of stock it will not be included in your order, you will not be charged for it, but we will notify you by email as soon as it becomes available.
Delivery
The charge for post and packing for all orders sent to locations in the UK and internationally is based on a combination of parcel weight, dimensions and value (for insurance purposes). We have designed a matrix that includes the weight of every product we have available. If you buy multiple items, the total weight of the order is converted into a carriage charge, dependent on your location in the world.
We aim to dispatch all items within 3 working days of accepting your order. UK customers should allow up to 7 days for purchases to arrive, though orders will usually arrive in 2-4 days. Please note that delivery estimates are not guaranteed. You will be notified by email once your goods have been dispatched from the Design Museum Shop. All orders will be sent by recorded delivery in the UK and will therefore require a signature upon receipt. We are happy to send items as gifts but, to avoid confusion, please forewarn the recipient that a parcel is on the way.
Please note that if you are ordering goods for delivery overseas you may be subject to import duties and taxes. Duties will be collected at checkout for international orders, so you should not face further charges once you have placed your order.
See the delivery information page for more details
Taxes
All purchases (except books, which are VAT exempt) within the UK are currently subject to a VAT charge of 20%. The prices on our site are inclusive of VAT. Deliveries overseas may be subject to import duties and taxes. Duties will be collected at checkout for international orders, so you should not face further charges once you have placed your order. Duties charges will be clearly displayed in the price breakdown of your order.
Product Information
All prices viewed by customers using our site in the UK are quoted in pounds sterling and are inclusive of Value Added Tax. If the price quoted on the website is incorrect and the true price is lower than that quoted we will charge you the lower price. If the true cost is higher than the quoted price we will either inform you of the true cost and await your confirmation of your order at the higher price or inform you that we cannot accept your order and let you know the reasons for such cancellation.
All sizes, weights and capacities of the goods given on the site are approximate, but we individually weigh each item before putting it on the site to provide a fair and precise shipping cost estimate.
We have made every effort to reproduce colours as accurately as possible on the site, but please be aware that the actual colours you see on the screen may differ to those of your ordered products. If this is in any way a disappointment when you receive your items, please notify us as soon as possible and we will do all we can to remedy the situation.
Secure Shopping
Ensuring the security of your personal data is our highest priority. All payments are processed through a Secpay secure server which utilises a 128-bit SSL security system. This system encrypts your credit card and personal details to ensure that they should not be read by anyone else when transmitted over the Internet. The padlock icon at the bottom of your browser window indicates that this area of the site is secure.

3. Print on Demand (PoD)
PoD refers to products (typically posters & prints or clothing) which are produced as and when they are ordered by a third party partner. Due to their bespoke nature, customers purchasing PoD products are not eligible to cancel or return their order once it has been placed.
If the PoD product is received damaged or is faulty, please contact onlineshop@designmuseum.org to make arrangements for delivery of a replacement. Please ensure you send photographs of the damage to the product and the packaging.
Lead times (order to despatch) for PoD prints and posters are 5 working days for unframed and 10 working days for framed prints/posters.
If Click & Collect shipping method is selected for your order, please note that the above lead times still apply.
PoD prints and posters are produced by a partner company and as such will arrive separately and may arrive earlier or later than any non-PoD products procured in the same order.
Unfortunately, we do not deliver PoD products to addresses outside the UK at this time. PoD prints and posters purchased on their own are free to ship within the UK.
4. Competitions
Unless stated otherwise all competitions are open to all residents of the United Kingdom, i.e. England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales only. For the avoidance of doubt, Jersey, Guernsey, and the Isle of Man are not part of the United Kingdom for these purposes.
No cash equivalent (where applicable) or alternative prize will be given and the prize is non-transferable and non-exchangeable.
The winner has a set number of days (determined by the Design Museum Shop) to claim their prize, after which point the Design Museum Shop reserves the right to offer the prize to someone else.
By entering in to a competition entrants accept these terms and conditions together with any specific instructions and terms for such competition which may be mentioned in any electronic messages, or on the website, or communicated to entrants in any other way (“competition information”). Such competition information shall prevail in the event of there being any inconsistency between these competition terms and conditions and any competition information.
The Design Museum may cancel or amend a competition, competition information, or these terms and conditions without prior notice. Any changes will be posted either within the competition information or these terms and conditions.
Employees and members of their immediate families (including any live-in partner or household member) may not enter Design Museum Shop competition.
The prize is as specified in the competition information.
