Terms & Conditions

These Terms and Conditions govern your use of our website and the purchase of any goods from us. By placing an order, you agree to be bound by these terms.

We are a department of Design Museum Enterprises Limited and a trading company of the Design Museum. All profits from the Design Museum Shop go towards supporting the Design Museum. The Design Museum is a charity registered in England and Wales (charity no. 800354) and in Scotland (charity no. SC046559).

 

1. General Terms

1.1. Privacy Policy We are committed to protecting your privacy. Any personal information you provide to us will be used lawfully in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018. We will not pass your information on to third parties without your prior permission. For any questions regarding your data, please contact us.

1.2. Product Information We make every effort to display the products on our website as accurately as possible. However, the colours you see will depend on your monitor, and we cannot guarantee that your monitor's display of any colour will be accurate. If if product is not as expected please notify us as soon as possible and we will do all we can to remedy the situation. All sizes, weights and capacities of the goods given on the site are approximate, but we individually weigh each item before putting it on the site to provide a fair and precise shipping cost estimate. All products are subject to availability.

1.3. Pricing and Payment Prices displayed on the website are in British Sterling Pounds (£ GBP) and include VAT where applicable. We accept all major credit and debit cards and PayPal. Your card will be charged at the time of placing your order. If the price quoted on the website is incorrect and the true price is lower than that quoted we will charge you the lower price. If the true cost is higher than the quoted price we will either inform you of the true cost and await your confirmation of your order at the higher price or inform you that we cannot accept your order and let you know the reasons for such cancellation.

 

2. Ordering and Delivery

2.1. Order Acceptance Once you have placed an order, you will receive an email confirmation. We reserve the right to refuse or cancel any order.

2.2. UK Delivery

  • Shipping costs: Shipping begins at £5 and may increase based on the weight, shape, and dimensions of your order.
  • Delivery times: We aim to dispatch all items within 1-3 working days of accepting your order. Standard delivery is typically within 3-5 working days after dispatch but may take slightly longer during busy periods like Christmas. You will receive an email with a tracking link once your order has been dispatched.
  • Next Day delivery: Orders for Next Day delivery must be placed before 12pm. We currently do not offer a Saturday delivery service.
  • Failed delivery: If no one is available to sign for a parcel, you should receive a calling card with instructions for collection or re-delivery. If an uncollected parcel is returned to us, a supplementary postage cost will be incurred for re-delivery.

2.3. International Delivery

  • Shipping costs: International shipping fees vary by country, weight, and size. Import duties will be collected at checkout, so you will not face further charges upon delivery.
  • Delivery times: International orders are sent via a recorded delivery service such as UPS. Delivery times can vary significantly due to customs. Please allow up to 3 weeks for delivery.
  • Tracking: A tracking link will be provided in your dispatch email.

2.4. Click and Collect

  • Cost: This service is free of charge.
  • Collection: You can collect your order from the Design Museum Atrium Shop. Please wait for the 'Order ready for collection' email before you visit.
  • Availability: Orders are normally ready to collect the next day if placed before 2pm. Orders placed on the weekend will be processed the next working day and will be available for pickup from the following Tuesday.
  • Uncollected orders: Orders will be reserved for 14 days. After this period, the items will be returned to stock, and a refund will be issued.

3. Returns, Exchanges and Refunds

3.1. Unwanted Items Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations, you have the right to cancel your order and receive a full refund if you notify us in writing within 14 days of receiving your items. The items must be returned to us unused, in their original packaging, and in pristine condition within 14 days of your notification. The cost of returning the items is your responsibility.

3.2. Faulty or Damaged Items If an item is faulty or damaged, you are entitled to a full refund or exchange. Please contact us immediately with your order number and photographs of the damage to the item and packaging. We will provide a pre-paid postage label for you to return the item.

3.3. Refunds Refunds will be issued to the original method of payment once we have received and inspected the returned items. Please allow up to 7 days for the refund to be processed and appear in your account.

3.4. Print on Demand (PoD) Products Due to their bespoke nature, PoD products cannot be cancelled or returned once the order has been placed, unless they are damaged or faulty. If a PoD product is faulty or damaged, please contact us with photographs, and we will arrange a replacement.
